Why We Love Khatsahlano
It isn't just about the music.
It's one of the few events where you can spend an entire day wandering through one of Vancouver's favourite neighbourhoods while supporting independent businesses, discovering local artists, and trying restaurants you may never have noticed before.
Every block offers something different—from live performances and artisan booths to patios, cafés, boutiques, and family-friendly activities.
Support Local While You're There ❤️
One of our favourite parts of Khatsahlano is seeing the incredible support for Vancouver's small business community.
As a small business ourselves, we know how much preparation goes into events like these. Every purchase, every follow on social media, and every conversation with a maker helps support someone's dream.
Here are a few ways you can shop local during your visit:
✔ Browse artisan booths before heading to big-box stores.
✔ Stop into the independent boutiques along West 4th Avenue.
✔ Grab lunch or coffee from a local restaurant instead of a chain.
✔ Follow your favourite vendors on social media—it costs nothing but can make a big difference.
✔ Share your favourite discoveries with friends.
Local Brands to Explore
West 4th Avenue is home to many well-known Vancouver and Canadian brands alongside unique independent shops. Keep an eye out for stores such as Arc'teryx, lululemon, MEC, and neighbourhood favourites that make Kitsilano such a vibrant shopping district. It's also the perfect opportunity to discover small boutiques you may not have visited before.
Grab a Bite While Exploring
You'll find plenty of patios, cafés, food vendors, and neighbourhood restaurants throughout the festival.
Some local favourites include:
🍦 Rain or Shine Ice Cream
🥐 Lucky's Doughnuts
☕ 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters
🌮 Tacofino
🥗 Tractor Everyday Healthy Foods
These are all within or near the festival route, making them great stops while exploring West 4th Avenue.

Busybee Tip 🐝
The best souvenirs aren't always the ones you buy—they're the memories you make.
Take lots of photos, support local, enjoy the music, and don't forget to look up from your phone once in a while. Summer in Vancouver goes by quickly, and events like Khatsahlano are what make this city so special.
